Emily Cicchini

As Special Projects Manager at the University of Texas at Austin College of Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services, she supports the development of digital humanities and foreign language multimedia projects, including a suite of OER projects funded by the Fund for the Improvement of Post Secondary Education (FIPSE) and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Emily is also resident playwright at The Pollyanna Theatre Company, where her work, including 8 world premiere productions, has been recognized by the B. Iden Payne Awards and the Children's Theatre Foundation of America. Her play Edward, the Owl, and the Calico Cat is published by Dramatic Publishing. Formerly Director of Arts Education for VSA arts of Texas, she helped design and implement a 2003 Arts in Education Model Development and Dissemination collaborative grant with Ysleta Independent School District in El Paso, providing training for teachers and teaching artists in START WITH THE ARTS, an early childhood arts-based learning resource inclusive of children with disabilities. She has served on the boards of Texans For the Arts, The International Centre for Women Playwrights, and the Austin Creative Alliance.
She has sold material for numerous video, film and animation projects, and has worked as an actress, playwright, and/or artistic administrator for Bloomington Playwright’s Project, BoarsHead: Michigan Public Theatre, Capitol City Playhouse, The Cleveland Play House, Florida Studio Theatre, Frontera @ Hyde Park Theatre, McNesse State University, The Pollyanna Theatre Company, The State/Live Oak Theatre, Train of Thought Productions, and Zachary Scott Theatre.
She holds an MFA in playwriting with a secondary emphasis on screenwriting from the University of Texas where she was a James A. Michener Fellow, and a BFA in acting from Goodman School of Drama/The Theatre School, DePaul University.
